Natural Health Girl's Newsletter, Issue #30-Considered Where You Live, Sheep Wool & Low Vitamin D? February 21, 2008 |
![]() Hi!
Here in Northeastern Wyoming it is a winter wonderland. On our place, we have drifts as high as ten feet tall! My husband is six feet tall, and one snowbank is approxiamately another four feet taller than him.
Today, the sun finally came out. For the past week, we have had five blizzardy days out of seven. Uhgg! It was getting a little bit depressing. To tell you the truth, winter and snow are not really my favorite things. Inspite of that, my daughter and I did make the best of the snow by making the mischievous looking snowman you see with me in the picture.
Actually, getting the winter blues is quite common. The lack of available sunshine during the winter months in the northern part of the United States and other northern countries is a significant cause for emotional, mental and physical imbalances.
So, if you live in a geographical area where your exposure to the sun is reduced by the seasons, it is a fact that your health may be affected. The main reason for this is that a very important hormone, vitamin D is made by our skin utilizing the sun's ultraviolet rays. A lack of this important vitamin is a serious issue and an increasing problem for large portions of people.
To learn more about this interesting hormone vitamin, check out my article "Vitamin D Deficiency Symptoms - Get in the Light".
To learn about the best sources of vitamin D aside from the sun, including D3 made from sheep's wool, check out my article "Best Sources of Vitamin D for Optimal Absorption".

My husband, Allen, and my daughter, Manning, built a neat snowfort in the approxiamately 10 foot snowbank next to our tree belt.

Pretty cool snowfort! You should see the tunnel you crawl through to get inside. Manning says it's a secret hideaway. Password protected and all, so I can't tell you anymore than that. Shhhh! (Smiles!)
