Natural Health Girl's Newsletter, Is Loving Yourself Necessary? December 19, 2010 |
Hi, Your health is not just one simple physical component. Your health incorporates your WHOLE being. Your mind, body AND spirit. One of my biggest lessons about trying to improve my health was realizing that I had to nurture my "whole" self, not just my physical but my spiritual. And, along with that, I've learned so much about myself and what my "reality" really is to me. Do you realize that living healthy also involves self-discovery, self-acceptance and self-love? Years ago, I thought health was just going to come from finding the "right" answers out there from someone else who knew more. Yes, we can grow and learn from the guidance and knowledge of others, but we can't forget to look to one important source...our inner self. On my journey to "fix" my physical body, I realized I needed to love myself, and I had to start looking within myself for what I needed. I also realized that I needed to stop thinking of myself as "broken". When you look at all that you think is wrong or missing from your life, you just draw more of that to you. It brings unhappiness and struggle. We all need to see the beauty and the awesomeness of who and what we are. This is the place where we thrive. Yes, loving your self is essential, and if you are looking "out there" for answers to whatever it is that you are seeking, come home to yourself and start with discovering how to love yourself first. You can learn a lot out in the world, but it's not going to do you much good until your spirit, the essence of you, is nutured first. In my new section, Spiritual Health Resources, you will find words of encouragement and learn, once and for all, how to quit "seeking" and do more "living" and having fun. It's not about working on yourself; it's about rejoicing in who you are now. This section is new and a work in progress so check back for new, exciting updates.
