In the 21st century, it's time to quit chemical warfare against the insects and weeds in our environment. It's poisoning our eco-system and us. The health of the world's inhabitants is critically threatened. Birth defects, cancers, lung diseases, hormone imbalances, infertility, learning disorders, autism and other diseases are at all time highs. Mutant amphibians, dying fish and birds, declining bee populations and the list goes on and on.
It's naive to think that the millions of barrels of toxic chemicals being dumped on our food supply, sprayed in our air and flowing into our waterways is not a big part of the problem. And, it's all in the name of profits for those who make the chemicals. People will argue till their blue in the face that chemical spraying against mosquitos is for the safety of citizens and livestock, but it's a lie. It's a lie that's been propogated for a longtime.
Once upon a time, spraying chemicals to control mosquitos might have seemed like a grand idea, mosquitos died, it made money and no one thought it was harmful. But, a lot has been learned over the past few decades and enough time has passed that experience and evidence has told us otherwise. Our eco-system has a complicated balance that benefits all living species, and it's not as simple as spray, spray, spray. There are consequences to that and it's time we paid attention.
It's time to quit this destructive behaviour. It's time to say that it's not worth the money made to big corporations. It's time to say, we made mistakes and we're ready to choose better solutions. There ARE SAFE AND EFFECTIVE ways to control mosquito populations and they don't harm people, animals or the eco-system. So, it's time to implement new, natural, mosquito control programs and put the toxic chemical programs to rest.
