Essential Oils that Repell Mosquitos:

*Use high quality therapeutic, food grade essential oils. Do not use oils that are for perfume or scent only, such as those used in candle or soapmaking. Read labels. Oils found at discount stores or craft stores are not typically therapeutic or food grade.

• Idaho Tansy
• Clove
• Lemon
• Orange
• Lavendar
• Lemongrass
• Peppermint
• Thyme
• Cinnamon
• Eucalyptus
• Lemon Eucalyptus
• Citronella
• Geranium
• Cedar

Recipes:

Combine 5 drops of lavendar, 5 drops lemongrass, 3 drops peppermint and 1 drop thyme. Put on the bottom of feet or mix with one cup witch hazel and spray on.

Combine 5 drops clove oil, 5 drops lemon oil and 5 drops orange oil. Mix with 1 cup witch hazel and spray on.

Combine 5 drops cinnamon oil, 5 drops lemon eucalyptus oil, 5 drops citronella oil, and 1 teaspoon castor oil with 1 cup witch hazel.

Combine 5 drops cedar oil, 5 drops geranium oil, 5 drops lemongrass oil with 1 teaspoon of castor oil. Mix into 1 cup of witch hazel and spray on.

You may add additional carrier oil to these recipes if needed such as olive oil, almond oil, grapeseed oil or castor oil. (Aprox. 1 to 2 teaspoons of carrier oil per cup of witch hazel mix.) Some recipes even suggest using water and vodka. I personally have always used witch hazel to my satisfaction.

For a stronger repellent, add more essential oils.

Experiment with your own combinations.

*Keep repellent away from eyes. Some essential oils such as oregano oil, cinnamon oil or clove oil may burn or irritate the skin and should be diluted with a carrier liquid or oil. Use caution.
